1. I live in the south so we're pretty much only talking about the weather right now. Give us a weather report from where you live. Does the kind of weather you're having today affect your mood in some way?
In the South the weather is always nice and sunny, rain is something rather seldom in some places. While here in the North of Europe it's cold grey and rainy, we seldom have very cold temperatures and seldom hot weather. In the last years it has changed a bit, probably due to the climate change.
2. Avocados, kale, cauliflower and cottage cheese have all had their time to shine. 2026 brings us the year of the cabbage. Is this a vegetable you like? If so, what are some of your favorite dishes that call for cabbage?
In my kitchen I didn't use a lot of cabbage, besides for Sauerkraut no other recipe comes into my mind. We preferred the Italian kitchen and I never found cabbage in an Italian recipe, I am sure there are some, but I don't know them.
3. Was a Cabbage Patch Doll a part of your childhood? Or maybe your children's childhood? What's a toy trend from your childhood you remember wanting for your own?
That's the first time in my life that I see such a doll. It probably didn't exist, I haven't seen it in Germany, Italy or Belgium. My dolls rather looked like this one. Unfortunately I don't have them anymore, because my dear mother without asking me has given them to my 2 year old son, with the result that they were so damaged, that I had to throw them away !! I still can't forget it !
4. Something you've spent a lot of time doing lately?
Since a few weeks I always got a pop up to upgrade my "old" Firefox to the new one.. I know each time I update something it gets complicated. This time I don't know what I have done with my fingers but suddenly it started to download the new version. The same thing happened to me with Whatsapp, so I was really spending a lot of time to understand and to be able to use it ! My helper is not there anymore, so I only can count on myself and that takes time ! I will become a specialist !
5. Somehow it's the last week of January...sum up your month in just three sentences.
Bad weather, lack of energy, a boring week
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Now that I'm feeling better, I'm at odds with myself. I have so many things I want to do, but unfortunately my body isn't cooperating; I'm constantly tired! But I can't sleep during the day either, because then I don't sleep at night, much to Rosie the cat's delight.

Dear Ingrid, I love ❤️ cabbage 😋 I often cut it into strips and stir fry it with a little butter and water.
ReplyDeleteCorned beef and cabbage is a great meal. I also like ham and cabbage.
Cabbage is a delicious vegetable for chicken soup or vegetable soup.
I can relate to feeling tired and lacking energy.
I can also relate to afternoon naps.
If I sleep during the day there is a very strong likelihood that I will not sleep at night.
The photo of Rosie is precious.
My mother (Dutch), would cook diced up cabbage with curry and butter, it was pretty good, actually! I like various slaws made with it, sweet ones, or spicy ones...all yummy!
ReplyDeleteWinter can be dreary, but at least we have spring to look forward to!
Rosie sure looks cozy in her basket!
Weather report from Australia: nights too hot to sleep (30C ) if you don't have airconditioning, days in the mid 40C range.
ReplyDeleteI have been extra tired lately too, last winter was hard and several of us here have said that last year was when we suddenly "felt" old and we are all more tired from it.
I think I'll take our temperate climate over more extreme conditions in other countries.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the grey and rainy weather over the last week. I was glad yesterday the sun was shining a little. It's back to being grey today.
ReplyDeleteThe Cabbage Patch Dolls made it over here to England, I remember them well but they were hard to come by.
I hate it when things update, especially when you don't want them too. You are doing better than me because I haven't got the hang of using WhatsApp.
I am glad you are feeling better, I hope you are less tired soon.
I love that you (and your cat) live in a castle! Darn that technology and its upgrades - always makes me mad.
ReplyDeleteYes tech upgrades are a thing to deal with when we get older. We have sauerkraut with Vienna sausages for dinner sometimes But we don't eat cabbage any other way now but I did as a child often have cabbage.
ReplyDeleteI guess these tech updates keep our brains working. Usually harder than I would like! I like cabbage lots of ways and am going to try making cabbage rolls this winter. I've never made them but it doesn't look too complicated. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThose cabbage patch dolls were a fad I never understood. Dolls in our house looked like dolls and were played with in a motherly way. My Erin cat likes it when my waking times match hers, even if I don't like them. :)
