FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

After our nice Christmas festivities, the three days until the New Year, nothing special happened, we had a lot of visitors, people looking for a room to stay. The weather was cold and humid and I just went quickly to buy cat food and fruits for me. My alcohol free champagne for the New Year, I forgot.

I had decided not to go out but stay here in my cozy room and celebrate the new year eve with Rosie and the TV.

On one afternoon, none of the three of them were not there to entertain us, and I thought it was rather sad to sit alone in one's room waiting for dinner.

So I decided to gather our group for a bingo game, and I was successful, everybody came. We had a real nice afternoon. The staff brought us coffee and cake and after the Bingo we chatted until 5 pm.

The most beautiful thing was the fireworks display at the Atomium, which people from all over theworld admired. What was special about it was that the spheres and tubes appeared in different colors, illuminated by the fireworks

At midnight, I received a New Year's message from Amsterdam, and later some pictures as well.

While in Belgium private Fireworks were forbidden, because of too many accidents and also for the animals, Leia my son's dog stood at the window and looked outside admiring the private but very big firework of the neighbor ! That dog is unique ! All dogs and cats usually hide or run away, and this one likes fireworks !

  1. The Atomium looks amazing. Aside from the official fireworks, there were many illegal fireworks set off here, with a couple of people injured.
Good on you for gathering people together for a game of bingo.

  2. The fireworks display is really great. My own city put on a pitiful show as usual.

  3. Love the dog enjoying the fireworks. Yes private fireworks are banned here because of too many accidents. Sydney put on a wonderful show of fireworks too. Love your atomium all lit up. Happy new year Ingrid.

  4. Wow, the Atomium really does amplify the effect of the fireworks! Oddly, I don't remember hearing any here. We usually do. That is very unusual for a dog not to be afraid of fireworks. Happy 2026 to you and Rosie!

  5. The Atomium fireworks were amazing. I always enjoy watching the celebration in London on TV. This year I was flying over the US at that time, so I watched NYC fireworks for five minutes when I got home. I didn't notice any noise at home, either. It was too cold.
I'm sure everyone enjoyed the bingo game. And the coffee and snacks.
Happy New Year to you and Rosie!

  6. Wow, those fireworks behind the Atomium are really spectacular. Funny about the dog. Mine is a nervous wreck with fireworks, though this year there was none in our city which was unusual. Happy New Year to you!

  7. An amazing display! We usually hide away here, and many individuals let off outrageously loud bangers that spoil the NY celebrations. I do think they should be banned everywhere, globally, in preference for silent/ musical drone displays which are far more entertaining. Not that we are spoils ports just mindful of the creatures beside ourselves and slightly long in the tooth and wiser. . . .
