FRIDAY''s FAVE FIVE

On Monday I had to pay my monthly rent. For that I used my new Samsung A26 which is so they say, easy to use ! Now I wonder what they call "not easy". The bank itself had installed the app, because the app had landed in the publicity and was blocked.

I tried it once, it failed, it just didn't want to pay. I agree, that it doesn't want to pay, but I have to. After at least 5 times and it was still blocked, I put it aside and after lunch I went to my bank. She did the same, tried to pay, it didn't work; Finally she called the technical service in Antwerp and after an hour (fortunately I am retired) they finally found out, that the system had put my bank app in the publicity section which was blocked ! Of course I couldn't pay.

The next day I wanted to try out the new app and what happened ? It didn't work again. I sighed and after lunch  I returned to my bank which had become a second home for me or nearly. This time it went quicker, the same lady as the day before tried to do my payment, but nothing happened. I told her to change the name of the Bank because for whatever reason it didn't work. She called Antwerp again, and this time it was the fault of the computer department. A bug. It was quickly settled, the payment was made and before I left I told them that I hoped that I don't have to come back when I want to pay with the QR. They laughed.

On Thursday the weather changed and warmed up ! It was very nice because we played Scrabble. It was such a long time I hadn't played. Of course we couldn't play correctly, only putting letters together without counting the points. But 5 of us decided to play the real Scrabble.

The next day it was even warmer and we could sit outside and play darts ! We were 21 !! Here is 100 year old Jeannie, with her 2 m long grandson ! She played real good, better then me, I throw the darts everywhere but never on the target.

A new couple has arrived yesterday. Now we have to get to know them first. We have bad experiences with married couples. The two couples who have been here for a long time argue constantly, and one of them doesn't even want to eat together anymore.

Sometimes we think they're going to kill each other. One woman is particularly nasty, and quite rightly so. Her husband cheated on her for years while they lived in the Congo, and now, whenever she can annoys him, and enjoys it. It's not necessarily easy to live together in one room when you're used to a big house.

One couple has found a good solution, they have both one room, far away from each other. They avoid to meet during the week but on Sundays they always eat peacefully together and at least we see them laughing !

  1. Dear Ingrid, the cartoon made me laugh🤣 😂 Sorry you had issues with your payment, but it is good to know that it wasn't you or your phone.

  3. Love that comic at the end. We never counted points with scrabble, we used it mostly to help the kids learn words and reading and speling.

  4. New appliances of any sort can be a real trial - I'm glad you'v emanaged to sort your phone out,
I can't imagine living in one room with someone I don't like - it must be awful. The couple who meet once a week have found the right solution.

  5. I hope the bank app is finally fixed. It's amazing it took them so many tries to get it right. I would not be any good at darts, but it would be fun to play in a group. I imagine it would be hard for a couple to live in one room together.

  6. I think the bank employees just like seeing you, so they fix it so you have to come in to the bank. Do you bring them snacks? I am glad that the problem is fixed now.
I love Scrabble, but not darts.

  7. Oh my, that would have been frustrating with the app. Hopefully it is all worked out now. I haven't played scrabble in years. My mom used to love playing darts.
