In the region along the Rhine from Bonn to Koblenz, in Germany, I saw these beautiful half timbered houses. I have also seen a lot in some regions in the UK.
I love the look of the half timbered houses and when I was little I wanted one, but not now. Now, if I had the money, I'd have a house built with granite and concrete, minimal wood so it is bushfire safe.

They are lovely. How sad it is that modern buildings lack such charm. Though to be fair, they are likely not as efficient as new builds.
