3. In Ireland the meal on this day is often a hearty beef or lamb stew served with colcannon (mashed potato mixed with cabbage and leeks). In the US corned beef and cabbage is the more typical St. Patty's Day meal. Will you/did you mark the day with one of these dishes? Baked-fried-roasted-mashed...what's your favorite way to eat a potato?
I have been in Ireland, but I don't remember what I have eaten there, only that it was all good. Corned beef and cabbage sounds familiar to me. If I haven eaten this must have been in my childhood in Germany. With an Italian husband such a dish was impossible ! But we will celebrate St. Patrick here in "my" castle, although most of the residents don't know who he was and why he is celebrated, that's too new for them. On the menu is written "Irish Stew". I hope our Italian cook, who is real good, will do his best and prepare an Irish stew (without Spaghettis)

4. What color of the rainbow best represents your personality/mood today? Tell us why.
I would say yellow ! The sun was shining, the sky blue and I went with a friend to a real nice Restaurant and had a drink there ! We even sat outside on the terrace, it was so warm ! That really lifted our mood !!
5. Which 'lucky' quote resonates with you. Elaborate.
'Luck is not something you can mention in the presence of self-made men.' E.B. White
'Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.' Seneca
'Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.' Ralph Waldo Emerson
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I have no special thoughts today, I enjoy the sunshine and our park, who slowly gets green and greener. When I am sitting outside and everything is green, then I love green, all greens !
Dear Ingrid, I love all your photos! I absolutely love lamb! Roast lamb, lamb chops, lamb stew! Beautiful meal! I also love the greens of nature, Ingrid! Green is my favourite colour because of my love for nature! The grass, trees...lovely!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you feel really comfortable going for a walk there! It is a gorgeous place!
Your answers were good ones! The maid(?) looks like she was enjoying being 'Irish' for the day. At my work place everyone was wearing green shirts and various head gear. (Instead of our regular uniforms). Spring is in full spring there! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to see all the greens in the sun.
ReplyDeleteI love all the green! Isn't it so nice to see the sun and the season changing from gray to lots of beautiful color. Hope your Irish stew was good!
ReplyDeleteLuck for me was having the rain stop while I walked to and from work each winter, also it would stop when I got off a bus and started again once I was safely inside. Luck was also being in the right place at the right time for happy things to happen. I am retired now and my still-working daughter has inherited the "rain" luck and also garden luck, whatever she plants grows well. Most of it anyway, so I get to share fruits and vegetables from her pots.
ReplyDeleteI like most greens, but hate the yellowy lime green.
