On Monday, I received a reply from the laundry service, who had charged me for two duvets and a coat. Of course, I didn't pay. I don't own any duvets, and I have never even worn my coat here. Luckily, we'll be switching laundry service next month. They probably thought the old lady would not notice.
It's gotten quite cold, and rather damp too. Luckily, I don't have to go out since we are having a three-day general strike—no buses, trains, or trams, the shops are closed, and there is no mail. Thankfully, it's supposed to be over tomorrow. Am I happy that have my pension each month and nothing can be changed anymore.
The next day I was invited by my friend Laure whom I hadn't seen at least since a month. She wasn't feeling well, just like me, we were both feeling down. We also lost our husbands around the same time. She was worrying about her almost-grown grandchildren instead of leaving that to their parents. Somehow, I get the feeling she's letting herself be taken advantage of. But it's hard to say that to someone without risking the friendship. She'll figure it out herself.

It's true that we see ageing in others but not so much in ourselves, unless we look in the mirror!
ReplyDeleteI love your sense of humor! Yes, we all age differently. Just be thankful we are aging...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the visiting residents were finally able to go home. What an ordeal that must have been for them. It is funny/odd how we all age differently.
ReplyDeleteDear Ingrid, the illustrations made me smile 😃 😊
ReplyDeleteI am glad you caught the laundry services error!!! Good for you 👍 👏
Your descriptions of Gilberte reminds me of a former next door neighbour in my building. She moved into a residence similar to yours earlier this year. She is 97 and lived alone here and was still walking and doing her own laundry. She has a very sweet and smart way, she is originally from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿I love her. I miss her as well.
Yes, indeed, everyone 'ages' in different ways, likely because of their lifestyle, stresses and many other factors. If we can keep our minds it's such a blessing, and if the body as well, well that is a double bonus!
ReplyDeleteYour memes are very funny!!
We are in the midst of a bad winter storm..and it is not even officially winter yet, sheesh! All the cars on the highways are just crawling, visibility is terrible and so we are glad we are inside the house, warm and cozy and have enough provisions for several days...
Tomorrow is already the first Sunday of Advent, wow!
Enjoy your weekend!
Yes it is sad how people around us are all aging in different ways. My Dad's body fell apart with bone cancer but his brain stayed good. My mother's brain fell apart but her body stayed good for ages. Both were horrible ways to go.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cartoon images, Ingrid. May we all blessed with the faculties to see us to the end of our days, whenever that may be.
